English When two wall switches control the same light fixture, they are called 3way switches, because instead of one input and one output, they have 3 terminals (or wires, in the case of most dimmer switches). The two switches are connected together by a 3wire (plus ground) cable, as depicted here.
4way switch wiring …need two 3way switches (one at each end) and then as many 4way switches as you want in between. 2 wire cable runs from the light to the first switch, and then 3 wire is run between all the switches.
